2019 Top Podcast Award,
The Today in Church His-Story Podcast has a history…
In the Fall of 2018, foundations were being laid to develop an informative and concise podcast. Understanding that people may not always have time to listen to an hour long podcast, this podcast was designed to be short and occasional. Creating a podcast where history “comes to life” for the listener was the philosophy behind its origins.
From the beginning, the aim of this podcast sought to identify important dates in church history attached to the intricate web of historical theology, events, people, and places. In-depth research and fact checking combined with a colorful narrative characterize this podcast.
The founder, writer, and host of this podcast is unapologetically Reformed and desired to provide a window into the rich tapestry of important dates within the Reformed tradition as a main point of emphasis. As a pastor, he saw how history is often neglected to the detriment of the church. Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat the mistakes and sins of history, as well as forget the blessings of God for obedience.
In just its first year of existence (2019), the Today in Church His-Story Podcast aired 36 episodes. In February of 2020, it received the Top Podcast Award for 2019 by the Christian Podcast Community.
“We want to thank you for a most excellent podcast. You have been awarded by the Christian Podcast Community as the top Christian podcast for 2019. You have done some excellent work. We want to encourage you to continue producing better podcasts that will make an eternal difference for the kingdom of God.” (Official Letter from the Christian Podcast Community)
“He goes into detail about what was going on ‘today’ in history because there are different things that go on that help us understand history. He does an excellent job. He’s got a good voice for podcasting too. There are no lost words on his podcast, very concise, to the point, very informative.” (Andrew Rappaport, Executive Director for the Christian Podcast Community)
